The Police Command in Anambra State has arrested a suspect with locally made Beretta pistol during a foot patrol in the area.
The Operatives attached to Awada Divisional Headquarters while conducting a routine foot patrol at Upper -Iweka in Onitsha intercepted and arrested one Chigozie Orji.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga says during a search, operatives recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol concealed inside a bag.
The statement explains that preliminary investigations suggested that the suspect might be involved in criminal activities within the area.
It states that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for further investigation and necessary legal action.
“The Police Command remained committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents, while urging members of the public to continue to providing useful information that could aid law enforcement efforts in tackling crime in the area” he adds.
