The House of Representatives has announced the donation one Hundred million naira to the victims of the Niger State tanker explosion.
The Speaker, Tajuddeen Abbas made the announcement during a condolence visit to the Governor of Niger State in Abuja.
The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje also paid a similar visit to the Governor.
Since the last Saturday’s tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, Niger State, high powered delegations and condolences have continued to pour in.
The latest delegation was led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas.
The Speaker said the donation by members of the Assembly was to assist the families of the deceased and those receiving treatment at the hospital portal.
While describing the continued tanker explosions in the country as unfortunate, the speaker said the Assembly would improve the finances of agencies responsible for road safety.
Sympathising with the Government of Niger State and the families of the victims, in another separate condolence visit, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Abdullahi Umar Ganduje identified human factor as one of the indices contributing to fuel tanker explosions.
The APC National Chairman called for the sustainance of the current offensive against criminals hibernating in forests across the country.
Responding, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, thanked the delegations for the visit and the donation pointing out that few days after the Dikko explosion another tanker fell along Badeggi-Bida road and people still came out to scoop oil but fortunately, the content was groundnut oil not petrol.
The Governor stressed the need for more orientation to Nigerians on the dangers of scooping oil from crashed heavy duty trucks.
