In an effort to revive the agriculture sector in the seven North West States, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau has announced his plans to raise 558 young farmer millionaires this year’s farming season .
Senator Barau made the announcement while addressing Senate Correspondents in Abuja.
Senator Barau who was represented by his Special Adviser on Policy and monitoring, Professor Muhammad Fagge explained that the programme entitled: Barau Initiative for Agricultural Revolution in the North West (BIARN), would select three young farmers from each of the 186 local government areas of the seven states in the North West geopolitical zone of the country.
He said each beneficiary would receive the sum of N5 million to invest in farming during this year’s season.
Senator Barau said the total sum of N2.79 billion would be disbursed to the beneficiaries.
