Nigeria’s Super Eagles secured third position at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Egypt.
It was the ninth time Nigeria will be winning bronze medal in the history of the AFCON.
Adam Akor had a goal chalked off for a foul midway through the first half.
Substitute Ademola Lookman’s goal was also ruled out for offside early in the second half.
Egypt put up a resolute display at the back and rarely troubled the Super Eagles’ defence.
The game went into penalty shootout after 90 minutes.
The Super Eagles kept their nerves, netting four times, with Egypt scoring only twice.
