The Federal Government has restated its commitment to strengthen the nation’s agricultural infrastructure.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator, Abubakar Kyari, made this known at the commissioning of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, ARCN, Veterinary Clinic, Fish Pond, and Stores Complex, as well as the Inspection of the Corporate Building of the Council in Abuja.
Senator Kyari, said the commissioned facilities are not just physical structures but symbols of collective determination to provide the necessary support and infrastructure to farmers, researchers, and agricultural stakeholders.
The Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, Professor Garba Sharubutu, said the projects were conceived to better the position of the Council and contribute to Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promote food security, increase the visibility of the agricultural research system, and strengthen the Council’s coordination with international research partners, among others.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, Senator Simon Lalong, while commending the Executive Secretary of ARCN on the projects, mentioned that this year’s budget on Agriculture was inadequate but, however, promised to improve it for the sector to thrive.
Highlights of the event, was the commissioning of the projects, with dignitaries and stakeholders in the Agricultural sector in attendance.
