The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a strong warning to airlines that fail to comply with refund regulations.
Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, NCAA, Mr. Michael Achimugu in a statement, expressed his disappointment over the delay in refunding passengers for canceled flights.
He emphasized that the NCAA’s regulations clearly stipulate that cash purchases must be refunded immediately, while electronic purchases should be refunded within 14 days.
The NCAA’s spokesman urged airlines to prioritize passenger satisfaction and adhere to these guidelines.
Mr. Achimugu also highlighted the agency’s efforts to foster a positive relationship with airlines and improve passenger experience.
However, he stressed that non-compliance with refund regulations would not be tolerated and would result in strict sanctions.
Mr. Achimugu also revealed plans to review the regulations to reduce the refund timeframe to 7 days, demonstrating the NCAA’s commitment to protecting consumer rights and enhancing the overall travel experience for Nigerian passengers.
