A non governmental organization, the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has applauded the National Assembly for recommending increased budgetary appropriation for Media organizations under the ministry of information and national orientation.
This is contained in a statement signed by the National Coordinator of the Group, Alh. Ibrahim Abdullahi, in Abuja.
The statement expresses concern over the state of Zonal and FM Stations of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN and other federal government owned media organizations which needs more attention and funding.
The statement also commends the Minister of Information and National Orientation Alh. Mohamned Idris for undertaking a tour of some FRCN stations to see things for himself, calling for total rehabilitation of structures, provision of modern equipment, Generating Sets, Vehicles and good working condition of service for staff.
It describes the Media Salary Scale for Public Service Media Workers, as necessity pointing out that the demand has been on for many years and well-deserved because of strenuous conditions under which Media Professionals have been working.
The statement appeals to National Assembly Members to integrate all the concerns into its consideration in approving tangible Budget for 2025 for Federal Ministry of Information and national orientation.
