The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has reiterates its commitment to combating drug abuse and insecurity in Abia state.
The new Commandant of the Agency in Abia State, Mr Chidi Nnadi, stated this when he paid a familiarization visit to Governor Alex Otti of the state at his country home Nvosi Isialangwa South LGA.
Mr Nnadi who recently assumed office in the state commended Governor Otti and his wife on their concerted efforts to ensuring that the state is free from activities of drug peddlers, Involvement in awareness campaigns and the rehabilitation of drug users.

He explained that the inauguration of the State Drug Control Committee, chaired by the wife of the Governor, is a significant step toward tackling the issue at the grassroots stressing that the measure aligns with the national drug control master plan.
Responding Governor Alex Otti assured the Agency that the state government would not relent in its efforts to combating drug abuse and insecurity in the state.
Governor Otti advocated for a multi-faceted approach with intelligence-driven strategies in combating the menace and assured the new Commandant of the state government support to rid the state off all forms of crime and criminality.
He advised the new Commandant to liaise with the Homeland Security so as to identify and eliminate hotspots in the state.
