Bolt drivers under the aegis of E-hailing drivers have called on the Nigeria Police to investigate and bring officers of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to justice for allegedly killing their member, Henry Osarodion in Benin City.
They stated this in a protest at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalist, Edo state Council.
The protesters who called on relevant authorities to bring to book some officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC who allegedly murdered one Henry Osarodion who was a bolt driver, said the incident could have been averted assuming the NSCDC officials behaved maturely.
According to their spokesperson, Mr. Festus Nwabuzor, the late Henry went to drop a passenger at the Castle hotel when one of the officers who he allegedly almost hit with his vehicle came out and beat him up mercilessly, took him to their office at off limit road and lock him up from 12am to 5pm.
He called on the Nigerian Police and other relevant authorities to carry out proper investigation with the aid of the CCTV and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Another bolt driver who spoke on the development, Mr. Rosor appealed to the state government to wade into the issue and ensure that justice was served in line with the present administration commitment to protect residents of Edo State.
On his part, the Public Relations Officer, Edo State NSCDC, Mr. Efosa Ogbebor said their men who was providing security for the hotel were separating a fight when mob came to take over the scene and the corp immediately withdrew their men to enable the police carry out investigation.
Also the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu who confirmed the killing, told newsmen that four officers of the NSCDC have been arrested and were in police custody.
CSP Yamu said Edo State Commissioner of Police , Betty Osetimeyin had ordered proper investigation into the matter before they would be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law.
CSP Yamu assured Edo people that the police would ensure that the matter is followed up to a logical conclusion and see that justice is not just served but seen to have been served.
