A new Assistant Inspector General of Police, has been appointed to take over reigns at the Maritime Police Command, Headquarters Annex in Lagos.
He is AIG Garba Yusuf, following his recent promotion to the prestigeous rank, by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He takes over from AIG Augustina Ogbodo, with a pledge to ensure that the robust policing of the nation’s maritime domains would be taken to the next level.
AIG Yusuf’s extensive experience made him an ideal choice for the new Office.
With a track record of excellence spanning three decades in the Nigeria Police Force, he is expected to uphold and enhance the Command’s mandate of safeguarding one of the nation’s most valuable economic sectors.
He joined the Nigerian Police Force, in 1992 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, after completing his required training at the Police Academy in Kaduna.
AIG Yusuf has since served across the six geo- political zones, in various operational, investigative and administrative capacity which have earned him reputations for diligence and professionalism.
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Education from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto and Masters Degree in Criminology and Forensic Psychology from the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.
A family man with children, his hobbies include football, badminton and table tennis.
The Maritime Police Command plays a critical role in securing the nation’s maritime industry, which is very vital to the economy and development of the nation.
