The Vice President, Kashim shatima says there is need to diversify the country’s energy sector and to reduce over reliance on fossil fuels.
The Vice President stated this at the first International Hydrogen Conference in Abuja.
The Vice President, represented by Special Adviser to the President on power and Infrastructure, Sadiq Wanka said the conference was apt to enable government engage stakeholders, investing in infrastructure, and building a skilled workforce to support the growth of the nation hydrogen economy.
On his part, the Speaker of House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas explained that the engagement at the conference would reshape the policy frameworks of the house going forward to support the development of a hydrogen economy.
In his presentation, the Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas) Mr Ekperipe Ekpo and his Co-organizer, the Chief Executive officer, Foundation for Sustainable Social Responsibility in Emerging Africa (FOSSREA) Aliyu Mijinyawa, maintained that the conference demonstrate the Country’s commitment towards reducing its carbon emissions for sustainable energy solutions.
Also the Ambassador of Spain to Nigeria, Juan Martin represented by Juan sell and his counterpart from Germany stressed the need for Countries to share experiences in transitioning to hydrogen based economies.
The theme of the conference is “Building a hydrogen Economy for Nigeria is poised to play a crucial role in Nigeria’s energy transition”
