A total of 1,603 Members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC deployed to Kwara for their one year national service have been charged to adopt serious approach to the various activities at their orientation course to face challenges ahead.
Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, gave the charge in a message at the Kwara State Permanent Orientation Camp, Yikpata in Edu Local Government on the occasion of the Swearing in ceremony of the 2024 Batch C, Stream 2 Orientation Course.
“The onus now rests on you to be physically, psychological and socially ready to face rigours of nation building as full fledged Nigerian adults, who are well imbued with attributes of good citizenship, patriotism and discipline through the various training you will be exposed to in the course of this three week orientation exercise”.
The Kwara State Governor, represented by the State Commissioner for Youth Development and NYSC Governing Board, Alhaji Shehu Ndanusa, pledged continued support to te welfare and security of the corps members deployed to the state.
The governor enjoined the youth to always present themselves as worthy ambassadors of their various families and the NYSC scheme through service to humanity as enshrined in the motto of the NYSC.
The State Coordinator, Kwara NYSC, Mr Olaoluwa Onifade noted the essence of the orientation exercise is service reorientation for national rebirth, for the youth to have a developed value towards commitment to nation building.
The Coordinator also enjoined them to have a story belief in Nigeria and the agenda of President Bola Tinubu in the area of youth empowerment as they take full advantage of the physical drills, citizenship and leadership training, as well as Skill Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development programme, SAED they will be exposed to.
He however, solicited more support of the Kwara State government for life saving gadgets “that will assist [the] camp clinic in handling emergency cases during orientation exercise,” he added.
At the close of registration, 1603 corps members, comprising 860 females and 743 males were sworn in by the Kwara State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara.
