The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NiDCOM Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Dr. Bolu Ogunyemi on his historic election as President of the Canadian Medical Association as the first Black person to assume the position in the association’s 158-year history.
This is contained in a statement signed by NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, in Abuja
The statement describes the achievement as a testament to resilience, determination and excellence.
It urges Dr. Ogunyemi to continue his exemplary work and inspire others Nigerians in the diaspora to strive for greatness.
“Dr. Ogunyemi, a Nigerian-born dermatologist based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, was elected after a rigorous selection process. As President-elect, he will represent the Canadian Medical Association in dealings with government, medical associations, and other organizations” it adds
“His role will be formalized at the Canadian Medical Association’s General Council meeting in May 2025”
