The Federal Government has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of South Korea over the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216.
A statement signed by the Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa describes the incident as a devastating loss and condole with the families of the victims.
The statement indicates that the Boeing 737-800, returning from Bangkok, Thailand, crash-landed at Muan International Airport in southern South Korea.
It adds that the plane skidded off the runway and crashed into a wall, resulting in a fiery explosion.
Out of the 181 people on board, 179 lost their lives, leaving only two survivors.
