Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced a major reshuffle of his cabinet, dropping the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, on health grounds, and scrapping the office of the Chief of Staff, COS.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, the reshuffle is aimed at enhancing administrative performance and political retooling.
According to the statement, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi; Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud and Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran retained their position.
Others retained are Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Abduljabbar Mohammed Umar, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Musa Suleiman Shannon and Commissioner for Works and Housing, Marwan Ahmad.
The Governor also reassigned some commissioners, including the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulssalam, who moves from the Ministry of Local Government to Higher Education.
Five commissioners were dropped from the cabinet, including Ibrahim Jibril Fagge of the Finance Ministry, Ladidi Ibrahim Garko of Culture and Tourism, Baba Halilu Dantiye of Information and Internal Affairs Shehu Aliyu Yammedi of Special Duties; and Abbas Sani Abbas of Rural and Community Development.
The affected commissioners have been directed to report to the Governor’s office for possible reassignment.
