The Christmas celebrations may be over, but it seems many civil servants in Kano state are still enjoying the festive season.
As the public holiday terminated on Friday, December 26, 2024, a low record of resumptions was observed at the State secretariat.
There was a low turnout of civil servants at government offices.
At the ministries of environment, justice, education, science and technology, agriculture, and health, some staff were present, but not all were at their duty posts.
Ahmad Salisu and Mustapha Usman were among the few civil servants who resumed work on Friday.
They attributed their presence to a desire to strictly abide by government directives on resumptions.
However, many of their colleagues were absent, reportedly traveling to their local governments to celebrate the festivity period.
The situation was similar at the federal secretariat on Katsina Road, Kano, where most civil servants had traveled out of the state and were yet to resume.
But business activities remains vibrant as Marchants from all over the federation continue trooping to the commercial nerve center of the sub- Saharan Africa to buy and sell their commodities.
