Beneficiaries of Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus NG-CARES results area II in Jigawa State have signed a utilization agreement to ensure the proper use of support.
Speaking during the distribution of incubators to beneficiaries in Kafin Hausa Local Government, the State FADAMA CARES Coordinator, Dr. Aliyu Inuwa, highlighted the importance of the agreement in achieving the desired objectives of the intervention.
He expressed concern about the misuse of government interventions in the past, stressing the need for accountability.
According to him, the agreement serves as a bond between the government and the beneficiaries explained that, It ensures that resources are used effectively to meet the goals of economic recovery and sustainability.
He pointed out that, NG-CARES Results Area 2 has supported over 47,790 individuals in Jigawa State to recover from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said, these include rice to 3,360 individuals while Maize to over 2,200 beneficiaries.
Others also include Millet to 4,330 individuals, 3,650 benefitted with sorghum and Poultry 1,660 individuals.
“Goats: 5,700, Sheep 1,330, Processing machines 710 , Water pumps 4,210, Fingerlings 100, Local chicks 1,280 ,Apiculture equipment100, Spaghetti-making machines 550, Drilling machines 170, Incubators 270, Food items 16,200 and Personal protective equipment 270 individuals”
Dr. Inuwa who emphasized that the program’s beneficiaries would be closely monitored to ensure compliance with the agreement warned that any violations would attract legal consequences.
The Coordinator added that, the initiative is not just about recovery, but creating sustainable livelihoods for their people.
The Fadama Boss said, the beneficiaries must adhere to the guidelines to ensure that the program achieves its objectives.
