Nigerians have been urged to attend counselling session before embracing parenting role to enable them have a successful family.
A child protection expert and life coach, Mrs Gbemisola Osagede-Daramola made the call while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin.
According to her there are parenting skills needed by aspiring couples before accepting the role of parenting.
She explained that most couples and parents do not understand the role of mentoring and training their wards before jumping into parenting.
Daramola stressed the need for the establishment of a parenting academy to teach young couples the rudiments of parenting.
She advised aspiring couples to go for pre-marital counsel before venturing into parenting adding that such rudiments can not be learnt through google search.
The child protection expert urged parents to create time for their children rather than prioritizing their businesses and works to the detriment of their wards.
She advocated the need for parents to balance their daily activities with the training of their children and proper upbringing.
