The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC has pledged to support the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ FCT Council for capacity building and help transform the profession for national development.
The Chief Corporate Communication Officer, Corporate Communication Affairs, Mr. Femi Sonoye gave the assurance when the Chairman NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike led a delegation of the Executive on a courtesy visit to the NNPC Towers Abuja
Mr. Sonoye advised the Council to work towards restoring the dignity of the Union by ensuring unbiased, verified and ethical reportage by the media.
Earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike explained that the visit was to deepen the relationship between the two institutions.
She expressed the commitment to uphold the highest standards of journalism and ensure accurate, fair and development-oriented reporting.
Comrade Ike appealed for NNPC’s support in organizing capacity-building programs for members with focus on energy reporting, data journalism, and understanding the intricacies of the oil and gas industry.
