Zamfara State government has conducted a mass wedding for one hundred female orphans selected from the 14 local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the wedding ceremony, the wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal said the mass wedding was a clarion call to help humanity in every way possible.
Hajiya Dauda-Lawal noted that, a dowry of one hundred and fifty one thousand naira was paid for each bride, alongside essential items, including a set of furniture that consists of cushions, a bed, wardrobes, mattress and kitchen equipment to help them begin their new lives.
According to her, each bride has been provided with a hijab and traditional brocade.
The wife of the Governor further stated that, medical screenings have been conducted and they filled form as a condition, including a clause regarding divorce.
“Before the wedding day, all brides have also received enhancements that includes Henna decorations, hair dressing, and other services.
“The grooms are not left behind; they received eight yards of shadda fabric and a stipend to help them start their businesses”
Hajiya Dauda-Lawal explained that recently the Governor of Zamfara State had performed a similar programme under Hisba Commission, sponsored by Zakkat and Endowment Board where he
gave out one hundred divorcees in marriage to their husbands with furnitures support.
According to her, the purpose of the initiative was to minimize social vices and purify it society.
She commended the Staff of Zakkat Collection, Distribution and Endowment Board under the leadership of Sheikh Ahmad Bin Umar kanoma and Executive Secretary Habibu Balarabe Zawiyya for carrying out their responsibilities deligently.
Hajiya Dauda-Lawal reminded the brides that a woman would enter Paradise if she respects her husband and urged them to always be obedient to their husbands for Allah reward.
In a remark, the Chairman Zakkat Collection, Distribution and Endowment Board, Sheikh Ahmad Bin Umar kanoma who commended Zamfara State government for all the support said due process has been followed in the selection of the brides.
Sheikh Kanoma revealed that, significant number of female had shown interest to be part of beneficiaries of the wedding, he called on the wealthy individuals to support the initiative as a way of supporting families of vulnerable and less privileged in the society.
During the event, the wife of the Governor presented Dowry to some of the brides, the Couples also commended Zamfara State government for the wonderful gesture to them.
The Chairman of Zamfara State Council of Chief, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad, other traditional rulers as well some dignitaries and family members have graced the occasion.
