Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission has approved the dismissal of a Sharia Court Judge at Jalam in Dambam local government area, Umar Ibrahim for gross misconduct.
The Commission has also introduced the submission of Magistrates and Sharia Court Judges quarterly report which will be used to determine if their eligibility for promotion.
A statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Dr Ibrahim Danjuma says the resolutions are aimed at strengthening the judicial operations and enhance promotion system for the staff.
According to the statement the decision to relieve Umar Ibrahim from service for violating the code of ethics and principles governing the judiciary was inline with the Commission’s mandate to ensure adherence to Ethical Standards.
The statement explains that the introduction of the promotion examination for judicial staff from grade levels eight and above is part of effort to enhance competence and professionalism among them.
It states that the Commission is determined to uphold the high standards in the judicial system and ensure that the public trust in the judiciary remains intact.
