The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a postponement in the inauguration and official unveiling of its National Campaign Council (NCC), shifting the event from Tuesday, October 20, 2026, to Monday, October 26, 2026.
According to a statement released on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., the schedule adjustment was necessitated by an important overseas engagement involving the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Addressing party members and supporters across the country, the NDC spokesperson expressed regret over the short-notice shift while emphasising the importance of staying committed to the party’s broader electoral objectives ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections.
“The shift is occasioned by the very tight schedule of our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, who has a very important engagement overseas,” the statement read in part.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this shift and urge everyone not to lose focus on the goal of ensuring victory for our presidential candidate and all NDC candidates in the forthcoming presidential and general elections.”
The inauguration of the campaign council is expected to officially kick off the NDC’s nationwide campaign strategy as political parties gear up for the 2027 general election season.
