In a major boost for education in Bayelsa State, the Education Development Trust Fund has distributed learning materials to 225 public secondary schools and technical colleges across all eight local government areas.
Five government science and technical colleges also received science equipment and drawing studios as part of efforts to strengthen practical learning and technical skills in the state.
The handover ceremony, held at the State Education House, was attended by education officials, school principals, and representatives of the Trust Fund.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, commended the initiative and reiterated the state government’s commitment to raising education standards.

He encouraged school authorities to make the best use of the materials provided to improve student learning outcomes.
Thr Chairman of the State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Dr. Daniel Charles, called on the Trust Fund to extend support to more rural schools, while High Chief Fidelis Agbiki, Chairman of the EDTF Board, urged principals to utilize the resources responsibly.
Professor Ebimiowei Etebu, Executive Secretary of the EDTF, noted that the intervention aims to address critical gaps in teaching and learning across the state.
The distribution of these materials and equipment marks a key step in Bayelsa’s ongoing effort to reposition the education sector and enhance the quality of learning for students.
