Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has expressed condolences to the families of 15 Umuahia-based traders who died in a road accident while returning from a traditional wedding in Enugu.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor described the deaths as painful and devastating.
Otti directed the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection to reach out to the families of both the deceased and survivors, offering support and assistance.
He also called on motorists to observe road safety regulations, avoid over-speeding, and refrain from driving against traffic to reduce road accidents.
The governor prayed for the eternal repose of the victims’ souls and extended heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the government and people of Abia State.
