Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has inaugurated two projects in the New Yenagoa City of Bayelsa State.
At the ceremony held at the Government Reserved Area in the New Yenagoa City, the Adamawa State Governor expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded in the development of Bayelsa State.
The two projects inaugurated were the new Commissioners quarters and a dual carriage Road One in the New Yenagoa City.
Inaugurating the projects, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said provision of infrastructure was at the heart of development of any society.
Governor Fintiri while commending his Bayelsa counterpart for embarking on the projects, noted that despite the difficult terrain, infrastructure and basic amenities had been fairly distributed across the State.
In a remark, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State said the construction of the dual carriage Road One and the new Commissioners residence at the New Yenagoa City was part of efforts to open up the State capital.
The Governor explained that the present Administration had taken time to execute the plans of the New Yenagoa City to enable it compare to other cities across the country.
Governor Diri who explained that with prudent application of resources, the State Government was overcoming the challenge of difficult terrain, stated that he had directed that the road be further extended to link the Bayelsa International Airport Road to be completed by the end of this year.
Earlier, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Moses Teibowei said the dual carriage road one was part of the numerous internal roads and other amenities planned for the new Yenagoa City.
He said the project, which measures about two point one kilometer, is wide by seven meter, with drainage facility and two meter wide median and concrete slabs and would fast track the development of the State capital.
Also, Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mr. Perepuighe Biewari said the new Commissioners Quarters at the Government Reserved Area in New Yenagoa City would provide befitting accommodation for Commissioners in the State.
It’s the third Commissioners quarters built by the Bayelsa State Government with the first constructed by the Diepreye Alamieyeseigha Administration along Opolo-Elebele Road, the second located in the Opolo area was initiated by the Timipre Sylva Administration but completed by the Seriake Dickson led government.
