The President of Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) Comrade Joe Ajaero has cautioned the State Governments not to frustrate the implementation of the Supreme Court judgment that directed Local Governments to open accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to receive their allocations directly.
Comrade Ajaero stated this at the inauguration of the 8th National Administrative Council meeting of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE) in Abuja.
He advised the state governments to obey the Supreme Court verdict noting that NLC would fully support NULGE to achieve total autonomy at all cost.
On his part, the newly elected President-General of NULGE, Comrade Aliyu Kankara promised to priortise the welfare of members across the country.
‘’Today is a significant milestone in the history of our union, a dedication to selfless fight for the good of all members’’ he noted.
He called on members and stakeholders to remain united in demanding improved working conditions for local government workers.
The newly elected executives will serve for a four-year term, overseeing the affairs of NULGE and advocating for better policies for local government employees nationwide.
