Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has received Certificate of Return from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to AMAC Chairman, Kingsley Madaki in Abuja.
The statement says the AMAC Chairman emerged victorious in the APC primaries held June 25, 2025, with 51 votes.
According to the statement, the APC Electoral Committee Chairman, Dr. Habib Ibrahim, who announced the result, urged other aspirants to accept the outcome and support the winner in good faith.
The statement states that after receiving the Certificate of Return at the APC headquarters, the AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maikalangu assures members that the party will emerge victorious in the election next year.

“The Certificate of Return has assured me that I am the APC candidate for AMAC Chairmanship election come 2026. At the APC, we are one family. I urge my supporters to continue supporting the APC. I urge others who contested against me to join hands with me to move AMAC forward” Maikalangu assures.
“As you can see, everyone here is happy. I guess it’s time for us to go into action. All the other contestants are my friends, my brothers. I’ve seen them in person and we are one family and I’ve asked them to join me. Whatever is there, we are all together. So I guess we are going to work together” he emphasizes.
According to the statement, Maikalangu urges party faithful to unite for a better AMAC, stressing that there is no need for division in the party.
“The Minister of FCT has repeatedly said that it is operation show your scorecard. Its operation shows your voter’s card. Not only scorecard, show your voter’s card. You cannot tell me that you are with me when you don’t have a voter’s card”

“So I’m sending this message to all my lovers that they should go and get their voter’s card so that in this coming election, we shall deliver APC 100% in the FCT. I am calling on all other contestants, all other aspirants, to we should join our hands and get it correctly this time around. APC, this time around, we are going to make it, inshallah”
According to the statement, earlier, the former NANS National President and member of the Civil Society Movement of Nigeria, Comrade Prince Miaphen, describs Maikalangu as a detribalised Nigerian whose works in AMAC will speak for him.
According to the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the FCT Area Councils election will hold on February 26, 2026.
