Some of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), preparing for the Congress leading to the Anambra Governorship election have rejected alleged plans by the party to zone the ticket to one senatorial district.
The aspirants at the APC headquarters in Abuja, argued that it would be better to allow credible state congress describing zoning as a peculiar contraption of APGA that will not favour the APC as a party if it adopts the strategy.
One of the aspirants, Paul Chukwuma, a former member of the National Working Committee of the APC, described zoning as a method introduced by the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA to remain in office.
“It is important to tell Nigerians that there is nothing like zoning in Anambra state. Let me be very categorical, anybody telling you about zoning is an agent of APGA”
“This is because APGA devised a means of sticking to power in Anambra. I am from the Northern Senatorial District and the serving governor is from the Southern Senatorial District and every senatorial zone has seven local governments”
He lamented the worsening security situation in the state despite the efforts of the government, saying people are being kidnapped or killed daily across the state.
