The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that the growing number of governors joining the party will not automatically secure a victory in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the launch of a book by the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Aregbesola pointed out that past elections show no guarantee of success simply because a party is backed by several governors.
He specifically referenced the 2023 elections in the South West and South East, where despite having numerous governors on its side, the APC only secured 55% of the vote in the South West.
Aregbesola urged party members to reconsider the notion that governors alone define electoral outcomes, stressing that recent voting patterns in Nigeria do not support this belief.
