The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called for stronger collaboration between the Nigerian Army and the media to enhance national security and combat misinformation.
Lieutenant General Oluyede, stated this at the Nigerian Army Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Quarterly Media Chat in Gombe,
The Army Chief who emphasized the media’s role in fostering national unity and public awareness reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to transparency while maintaining security protocols.
Oluyede, who was represented by the Commander, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa, urged journalists to uphold accuracy and fairness in their reportage.
He also highlighted military successes, including the rescue of abducted persons and the restoration of socio-economic activities in conflict-hit areas.
Similarly, the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Alhaji Ali Muhammed Ali, stressed the importance of a strong military-media partnership.
Alhaji Ali noted that modern security threats require intelligence-driven and media-supported strategies.
Ali commended the Army’s efforts in fostering transparency and urged journalists to prioritize national interest and security in their reporting.
