The late Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Ofoni Community, Sagbama Local Government Area.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, condoled with the Bayelsa State Government and the Ewhrudjakpo family, describing the Deputy Governor’s death as a great loss to the nation.

He urged Nigerians to emulate his life of service and leave lasting legacies.
In his homily, the Bishop of Bomadi Diocese, Most Reverend Hyacinth Egbebo, described death as inevitable, noting that Senator Ewhrudjakpo lived a life dedicated to service, an example for public office holders.
Governor Diri described the late Deputy Governor as one of Bayelsa’s finest public servants, urging leaders to emulate his humility and reliability.

The funeral service at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Ofoni, was attended by dignitaries from across the country, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, and several state governors and deputy governors.

Other attendees included lawmakers, former Senate President Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, and prominent political figures, reflecting the late Deputy Governor’s national impact.
