The 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo has called on Nigerians to be awake and be vigilant.
Prince Adebayo made call at the 50th birthday celebration of his wife, Queen Lilian Adebayo, in Abuja.
He said the present economic situation in families should dictate the politics of the nation.
Adebayo called on Nigerians to become the opposition themselves and stop relying on selected few to represent the views in the national level.
“Look at your children, Look at your environment. What is happening in your household, in your community, that should dictate your politics. Nigerians need to know that we can be talking until the end of time” he added.
“If Nigerians don’t become the opposition themselves, and you are relying on the opposition, who are also politicians, it’s not everybody who is in a position that is on your side. So, the people of Nigeria themselves need to demand a change of government. And when that demand is there, the opposition that is credible will fill it” he stressed.
Speaking on 2027, he said there is nothing like coalition in the SDP and pledged readiness to still run for presidency under the party.
He added that SDP will never be a gateway for conspiracy and political robbery.
“If the coalition is for the Nigerian people, SDP is available. But if it is just a crime center for disappointed Tinubu followers, they should go back to Tinubu who promise to give them jobs and resolve their differences there” Adebayo noted.
“But if you are just coming to retaliate for the insult they insulted you, or a promise they gave you they didn’t keep, you are not part of it”
“Come to SDP to implement our manifesto. Don’t come to SDP to borrow us for a fight we are not involved, We are a party for the Nigerian people”
“So our plan is not based mainly on people who are friendly with somebody. Our plan is based on what the Nigerian people want as is contained in our constitution, Prince Adebayo added.
On his part, the Chairman Forum of State Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Hon. Femi Olaniyi Ferrari plead with Nigerians to join SDP to rewrite the story of Nigeria.
“We can all understand what everyone is passing through in Nigeria now. We asked for a change but the change has short-changed us and the economy is nothing to write home about”
“The only thing we can do now is to plead with everybody including youths and market women to join the SDP. We are trying to change the polity” Ferrari emphasized.
“We have seen what the so-called political gladiators have done in Nigeria in terms of insecurity, bad economy.”
Earlier, the National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP. Chief Peter Ameh said coalition is crucial in addressing Nigeria’s present situation.
“I think every gathering should also have a little bit of discussion about how Nigeria should move forward because the current suffering that Nigerians are expressing under this incompetent governance system is something that we must halt”
“As the people come to dialogue, whether we find ourselves in a place of celebration or worship, it’s very important that we look at Nigeria and discuss it” Aneh added.
“There is hunger on the streets, Nigerians are facing depression, high tariffs in electricity and data and increase in everything since President Tinubu came into office. The cost of living has gone so high” Chief Ameh added.
