The Borno State Acting Governor, Dr Umar Usman Kadafur, has inaugurated twenty-seven newly elected Local Government Chairmen and urged them to prioritise security and grassroots development in their councils.

The Acting Governor, speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at Government House, Maiduguri, called on the chairmen to ensure accountability and transparency, reside in their local government headquarters, and avoid unnecessary travel outside their domains.
He encouraged the officials to emulate the leadership and developmental initiatives of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to achieve meaningful transformation at the grassroots level, while appreciating the contributions of past local government chairmen.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Sugun Mai Mele, described the inauguration as a new dawn for local governance in Borno, urging the chairmen to justify the confidence of the electorate.
Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Borno State Chapter, Alhaji Ali Bolori pledged to fulfill campaign promises and commended the recent extension of local government tenure from two to three years, saying it would allow ample time to deliver dividends of democracy.
The ceremony concluded with the administration of the oath of office and allegiance by Justice Haruna Mshelia, representing the State Chief Judge.
