Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has clarified reports surrounding his contract negotiations with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), confirming that he requested a monthly pay of 130,000 dollars along with improved working conditions.
Chelle, who guided Nigeria to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, said the document detailing his demands was authentic but expressed concern over how it was leaked to the media.
Speaking in an interview with Histoires de Foot Podcast, the Malian tactician noted that the salary figure widely reported was in dollars, not euros as earlier claimed.
He added that the proposed amount was meant to cover not only his wages but also those of his technical crew.
The coach explained that his requests were part of broader discussions aimed at strengthening the team’s structure and ensuring better performance in future competitions.
Negotiations between Chelle and the football authorities are ongoing, with stakeholders awaiting a final agreement on his new contract.
