The Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff, has warned that terrorists and violent criminals will find no sanctuary within Nigeria, pledging intensified and sustained operations to neutralise insurgents and criminal networks nationwide.
Shaibu made the remarks during his maiden operational visit to the 4 Special Forces Command and the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in Doma, Nasarawa State.
He stressed the importance of precision-driven, intelligence-led operations to dominate the battlespace, highlighting the Special Forces’ critical role in safeguarding national security.
Following detailed briefings from Major General Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo and Brigadier General Umar Faruk Abubakar, Shaibu approved the immediate construction of additional accommodation and operational facilities to enhance training, efficiency, and troop welfare.
The COAS emphasised that the welfare of personnel and their families remains a top priority, noting that a well-supported and professionally trained force is essential for operational dominance.
He also pledged continued investment in logistics, modern combat enablers, and adaptive training aligned with evolving security realities.
Security analysts note that the directive underscores Nigeria’s commitment to maintaining internal stability, strengthening counterterrorism capabilities, and ensuring readiness to tackle both domestic and transnational security threats.
