The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has urged troops of the Nigerian Army to redouble the performance of their duties professionally in ensuring the integrity of the force and support to civil authority.
General Oluyede stated this during an operational tour of 81 Division’s Area of Responsibility for projects in the area.
He urged the troops to be diligent in ensuring peace and security across the country, as peace and security ensures development of the society.
The Army Chief pledged improving the welfare of troops, announcing that housing, loan schemes, uniform distribution, and allowances aimed at enhancing the service conditions of officers and soldiers would be provided.

General Oluyede announced that affordable housing projects are underway in several cities, including Abuja, Ibadan, Jos, Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Akwa Ibom.
On uniforms, the Army Chief said plans are on to manufacture 100,000 uniforms monthly as distribution is ongoing, with smaller divisions receiving the first batch, followed by the 82 Division and others.
General Oluyede announced the increase in daily field allowances, to three thousand Naira, with effective from next month as part of the improve welfare packaged.
The COAS accompanied by senior officers inaugurated some projects in 9 brigade, Commander’s Residence, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Quarters and Corporal Below Quarters including seventy Supply and Transport Command.
