A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has nullified the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, held in Oyo State on November 15, 2025.
In its ruling delivered today, the court barred members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee from parading themselves as national officers of the party.
The court declared that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman, alongside Senator Samuel Anyanwu, remains the only recognised National Working Committee of the PDP, pending the conduct of a valid national convention.
The Ibadan convention had followed internal disagreements within the party over leadership and the legality of the gathering, with rival factions seeking judicial intervention.
In a swift reaction, the Turaki-led National Working Committee said it will appeal the judgment.
A statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said its lawyers have been directed to immediately file an appeal and pursue all necessary legal steps.
The statement maintained that the Turaki-led leadership remains intact, urging members to remain calm while awaiting the decision of the appellate courts.
