A Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained UK-based activist Dr. Sandra Duru, also known as Prof Mgbeke, and Facebook from circulating alleged defamatory materials against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Justice I. Mohammed granted the injunction after the senator filed a suit citing sustained online attacks on her reputation.
The court ordered Dr. Duru to stop posting or sharing any content against the senator and directed Meta Platforms to take down all offending posts while preserving all digital evidence for the case.
The judge noted that the injunction is protective, intended to prevent further reputational harm pending the hearing of the substantive suit.
The case highlights the growing legal scrutiny over online defamation and the responsibilities of social media platforms in Nigeria.
