The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has formed a strategic partnership with the Kebbi State Government to implement the transit corridor for goods destined for Niger Republic via Benin Republic, following approval from President Bola Tinubu.
During a courtesy visit to Kebbi State, Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale-Adeniyi, emphasized that the initiative will address transit bottlenecks, enhance border security, and guarantee a 48-hour cargo clearance window.
He assured that advanced technology would be deployed to prevent the diversion of goods and maintain national security.
Governor Nasir Idris expressed full support for the partnership, commending the leadership of the Customs Comptroller-General and highlighting Kebbi’s strategic importance to Nigeria’s security. He also praised the cooperation with the Benin Republic delegation.

The Customs Chief warned economic operators that violations of transit regulations would attract strict penalties, as non-compliance could undermine trade relationships and security.
The collaboration aims to streamline the movement of goods, improve information sharing, and ensure that legitimate trade contributes to economic growth while maintaining national security.
