The Centre for Youths Integrated Development, CYID, has upgraded its Badagry facility from an entrepreneurship centre to a Youth and Migration Resource Centre.
The move aims to address the complex challenges facing young people in the border community.
Speaking on the development, CYID Director Mr. Aihawu Victor explained that many youths face unemployment, displacement, return migration, and limited access to support systems.
He noted that Badagry’s status as a border town influenced the decision to broaden the centre’s focus.
Mr Victor said the centre has become a safe space for youths in transition, helping them rebuild their lives and access practical support.
He emphasized that skill training alone is not enough without opportunities and support structures.
To strengthen the new approach, CYID launched the Jopen Legacy Creative Impact Lab, a three-month programme targeting creative, digital, and entrepreneurial skills, while also promoting discipline, responsibility, and confidence among participants.
The repositioning, Mr Victor added, reflects CYID’s commitment to providing dignity, sustainability, and practical pathways for vulnerable youths in border communities.
