The Delta State Government has urged eligible students of Delta origin studying in higher institutions across Nigeria to take advantage of the extended deadline for the 2025/2026 Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, application.
In a statement in Asaba, the Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, advised students to apply free of charge through the official NELFUND portal before the new deadline of February 27, 2026.
He said applicants are required to create an account using a valid email address and verify their identity with their National Identification Number, Bank Verification Number, and JAMB registration number.
Students are also to provide their institutional details, select the type of loan required—tuition, upkeep allowance, or both—and upload their admission letter before submission.
The state government described the extension as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving access to higher education.
Meanwhile, NELFUND confirmed that the application deadline has been extended from January 31 to February 27, 2026, to allow more eligible students complete their applications.
Applicants are advised to track the status of their submissions through the online portal.
