The Ekiti State Government has condemned a recent press conference held in Abuja by a group of individuals described as non-indigenes of Ekiti State, who made allegations regarding the just-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship consensus primary election in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by Comrade Sunday Asefon, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students Engagement, Comrade Sunday Asefon in Abuja.
According to the statement the government describes the event as a kangaroo press conference and dismissed the claims as false and misleading.
It emphasizes that the APC primary election held on Monday, October 27, 2025, was peaceful, free, fair, and credible, adding that it was conducted transparently under the supervision of the APC National Chairman and witnessed by INEC officials.
The statement affirms that Governor Abiodun Oyebanji emerged as the authentic candidate of the party.
The statement accuses those behind the Abuja press conference of being known members of opposition parties, particularly the ADC and PDP, with no moral or political authority to interfere in Ekiti APC affairs.
“We strongly condemn the actions of these non-indigenes and so-called CSOs. They should steer clear of Ekiti politics and focus on resolving crises within their own parties,” he states
It further emphasizes that Ekiti remains peaceful and united, noting that the outcome of the primary reflects the true will of the people.
It adds that the senior Special Assistant to the President therefore warned that any attempt by outsiders to distort the process will be resisted.
The statement urges the public to disregard what it called “baseless claims by impostors”, while reaffirming the commitment of Ekiti people to peace, unity, and progress under the leadership of Governor Abiodun.
