The Federal Government has honoured twelve exceptional teachers with cash prizes exceeding three hundred million Naira in recognition of their professionalism and dedication.
The awards were presented at the ongoing Nigeria Teachers’ Summit in Abuja, with recipients drawn from the six geo-political zones.
Eleven teachers received twenty-five million Naira each, while the overall best performing teacher, Mr. Solanke Taiwo from Ogun State, was awarded fifty million Naira.
In addition, Mr. Taiwo will receive a brand-new car from Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and a fully furnished two-bedroom flat from Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
Expressing his joy, Mr. Taiwo said the recognition reflects the power of passion, commitment, and consistent effort.
In her keynote address, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in teachers to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
Education Minister Dr. Olatunji Alausa highlighted ongoing reforms, including the Diaspora Bridge initiative and provision of over 60,000 tablets to teachers.
The summit also saw the launch of a national digital platform, Edurevamp, aimed at supporting teachers’ professional development.
