The Federal Government has commissioned a modern Conference and Training Centre at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority in Kano State.
The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, who performed the ceremony, said the facility is aimed at strengthening human capital development and promoting climate-smart agriculture.
He explained that the centre will equip youths and women with practical and technical skills in modern farming methods, describing it as a platform to nurture a new generation of agripreneurs.
Professor Utsev noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of food security, job creation and youth empowerment.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of the Authority, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, urged the graduating trainees to apply the knowledge acquired to become self-reliant and productive.
The beneficiaries received training in drip irrigation, hydroponics, greenhouse technology and the “Every Home a Garden” initiative.
The Federal Government says the project underscores its commitment to sustainable agriculture and inclusive economic growth.
