The Federal Government has recorded another milestone in the solid minerals sector as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, formally launched the OneGov Enterprise Content Management System at the Mining Cadastre Office in Abuja.
The MCO is now the first agency under the ministry to fully deploy the digital platform, designed to eliminate paperwork, secure documents and improve service delivery nationwide.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Alake said the launch reflects what he described as “a monumental step that showcases the new colours of success, progress and efficiency” in the sector.

He explained that revenue from solid minerals has surged due to ongoing reforms.
“When we came in, revenue was about six billion naira. We doubled that within a year, and this year we are almost tripling it,” he said.
Dr. Alake noted that sector-wide revenue rose from twenty-eight billion naira in 2024 to more than fifty billion naira in 2025, attributing the growth to transparency, digitisation and stronger oversight.
The Minister also gave a personal account of the transformation, recalling how his office was once filled with files.
“Today, with digitisation, I work from anywhere in the world with my iPad and iPhone. No files, no delays,” he added.
He commended the MCO for eliminating bottlenecks and restoring investor confidence, but cautioned that technology must be matched with discipline and a new work ethic.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, described the MCO as a model for other departments to follow, stressing that the OneGov system is “a secure digital backbone for modern governance.”
Earlier in his welcome address, Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastra Office, NMCO, Mr. Simon Obadiah Nkom, said the go-live represents a major leap for the entire country.
He revealed that the agency’s revenue rose from six-point-one-seven billion naira in 2023 to twelve billion naira in 2024, and has already surpassed thirty billion naira in 2025.

In his presentation, the Representative of Galaxy Backbone, Gana Nsuba praised the NMCO for aligning fully with the Federal Government’s digital agenda and pledged continued technical support.
The event featured a live demonstration of the OneGov platform, with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s digital governance ecosystem.
