The Federal Government has opened applications for the 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Nigerian postgraduate students.
The announcement was made on Monday by the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, via a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to the statement, the scholarship programme is for MSc and PhD candidates in disciplines relevant to the oil and gas sector, with study destinations in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.
The scheme covers full tuition, return air tickets, accommodation and living allowances, health insurance, and bench fees where applicable.
The PTDF said the scholarship is designed to provide access to world-class training and research facilities, while building indigenous capacity in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
For PhD candidates in the United Kingdom, the programme will run on a split-site arrangement between the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna, and selected partner universities including Robert Gordon University, the University of Strathclyde, and the University of Portsmouth.
The agency noted that the scholarship is highly competitive and selection will be based on academic performance, research proposals, professional membership, and relevance to the oil and gas sector.
MSc applicants must possess at least a Second Class Lower degree, have completed the NYSC programme, be computer literate, and have five O’Level credits including English and Mathematics.
PhD applicants are also required to submit a research proposal.
Applicants must ensure their National Identity Number is verified before applying, as multiple applications or submission of false documents will lead to automatic disqualification.
Interested candidates are to apply online at scholarship.ptdf.gov.ng, and the deadline for submission is 27th February.
