The Federal Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the University of Portsmouth UK, to enhance human capacity development in the oil and gas sector.
This is contained in a statement signed by the special Adviser to the Minister of state Petroleum Resources in charge of oil, Nneamaka Okafor, in Abuja.
The statement says the initiative was to facilitate resource exchange for training opportunities for Nigerians in the sector.
According to the statement, the partnership will equip Nigerians with skills to thrive beyond the country’s borders and foster sustainable development especially in the face of energy transition challenges.
It adds that the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, Mr. Ahmed Galadima Aminu, describes the agreement as a significant achievement in the organization mission to build local capacity.

According to the statement, on his part, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth, Prof. Graham Galbraith, who expresses enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighted the university’s commitment in sharing knowledge and expertise to foster sustainable development.
