The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, to deliver world-class infrastructure capable of standing the test of time.
Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, made this known at the investiture of Engr. Alimasuya Rabiu as the 35th President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to the Minister, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recognises the Nigerian Society of Engineers as critical stakeholders in nation-building and has therefore appointed many of its members to head key technical ministries, agencies and departments.

He noted that the engagement of qualified and experienced engineers has already yielded positive results, including the ongoing total rehabilitation and upgrade of the Alau Dam in Borno State, as well as other major national projects in water and road infrastructure.
Prof. Utsev said the Federal Government remains committed to deploying professional expertise to drive sustainable infrastructural development across the country.
He congratulated, Mr. Alimasuya Rabiu on his emergence as President of the Society and expressed confidence in his leadership, citing his previous service as a three-time Vice President of the NSE and his vast professional experience.
The Minister also commended women engineers for their outstanding contributions to national development and praised the immediate past President of the Society, Engr. Aina Oguntala, for breaking barriers as the first female President in the history of the NSE.
He urged the Society to continue deploying its professional expertise in support of the current administration’s drive to reposition the nation’s economy and infrastructure sector.
In his acceptance speech, the 35th President of the NSE, Engr. Alimasuya Rabiu, pledged that his administration would lead with integrity, restore institutional relevance and reposition the Society as a beacon of professional excellence both nationally and globally.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages from the immediate past President of the NSE and other eminent Nigerians.
