The Forum of State Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has described the departure of Shehu Gabam as a victory of righteousness over evil within the party.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum of SDP State Chairmen, Femi Olaniyi Ferrari, the group said history would not overlook the years Gabam spent as National Chairman, which they described as marked by negative influence on the party’s political development.
“Without reservation, Gabam has been a negative influence on the political development of the Social Democratic Party,” the statement read.
The Forum expressed heartfelt appreciation to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the SDP for its decisive action in removing Gabam and others whose conduct they said had been detrimental to the unity and progress of the party.
“It is a relief to see the end of such a detrimental influence,” the Forum stated, adding that the move represents a new beginning for the SDP.
The Forum congratulated all members and leaders across the country for what they called “a bold step to protect the party from reckless behavior and mischief.”
