Retired Major General Abdulmalik Bulama Biu has praised the sacrifices of Nigerian military veterans and fallen heroes during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremony in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.
He made the commendation while addressing members of the Nigerian Legion, Hawul Local Government Area Chapter, during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance and Celebration Day held on Saturday in Borno State.
General Bulama Biu paid tribute to both fallen and surviving service personnel, describing their sacrifices as the foundation of Nigeria’s unity, peace and security.
He reassured the veterans of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving their welfare, revealing that the Minister of Defence is spearheading initiatives aimed at strengthening care and support systems for members of the Nigerian Legion.
The retired General urged the veterans to remain united, resolute and committed to national peace, stressing that sustaining Nigeria’s unity and prosperity is a collective responsibility.
As a mark of personal support, General Bulama Biu donated one hundred thousand naira to assist with the launch of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem.
The ceremony served as a solemn reminder of Nigeria’s enduring gratitude to its military heroes and the need for continued national support for veterans and their families.
